Darya feels like a quiet composition of blue tones. Rectangular fields in deep blue, midnight blue, indigo and washed smoky blue interlock to form a calm, modern surface. Some sections are threaded with fine light dots, almost like subtle reflections on dark water. The patchwork remains clean and restrained, yet gains depth through variations in pile, shade and sheen. Hand-knotted in India from wool and viscose on a cotton foundation, Darya measures 296 by 252 centimetres. The viscose adds a soft, understated sheen, while the wool gives the rug structure and substance. Used as a large living room rug, beneath a seating area or in a bedroom, Darya creates a calm and cohesive colour zone.
