Umber
Umber feels like a woven surface of earth, shadow and patina. Across a dark brown ground, pale ornamental areas, faded borders and isolated blue sections appear as if layers of colour, textile and time had been placed over one another. The pattern no longer follows a strict classical order, but feels deliberately broken: floral, architectural, abstract and quietly weathered. The result is a modern rug with depth, history and a highly atmospheric surface. Hand-knotted in India from wool on a cotton foundation, Umber measures 292 by 241 centimetres. Used as a generous living room rug, beneath a seating area or in a calm bedroom, it creates a dark, warm base with subtle blue accents. The abstract design recalls faded ornament and combines a vintage look with modern surface composition. Brown and blue pair especially well with timber, leather, natural stone, linen and restrained interiors.
