Pure Silk
This hand-knotted silk rug feels like a finely composed architectural ornament in silk. At the centre, a round medallion opens into radiating segments, floral scrolls and soft fields of light brown, beige, blue and orange. The wide border, built from framed panels, gives the rug the presence of an intricately set picture and creates a calm, almost palatial order. Despite its richness of detail, the overall impression remains muted, warm and highly refined. Made in Kashmir entirely from silk on silk, the rug measures 277 by 181 centimetres. It works beautifully as a formal living room rug, in a salon or as a refined accent in a quiet bedroom setting. The pattern is called Gumbad and combines classical Kashmiri ornamentation with an architectural medallion composition. Its fine silk sheen shifts gently with the light, enhancing the subtle colours and the precision of the drawing. The product line may be listed as Kashmir Pure Silk.
